We’ve seen hundreds of small businesses, entrepreneurs and freelancers develop and grow at Market since we opened our first workspace on Blenheim Grove in 2017.

Here are just two examples of the great things our members have achieved over the years…

Asad Dhunna started with a hot desk in 2018 and has grown The Unmistakables into a 20+ person agency which moved to central London in 2021, providing consultancy to help embed equality, diversity and inclusion into organisations.

Ben Lindsay (now OBE!) started with a fixed desk in 2019 and is now our biggest customer with his multi-award winning charity Power the Fight, on a mission to empower communities to end violence affecting young people.

We’re very proud of successes like these, but part of our mission as members of Peckham and Southwark’s business community is to try and provide opportunity for people in our neighbourhood who have a need for a professional workspace, but for different reasons might face barriers to starting or developing their own business journey.

That is why we run Peckham Rise, an evolving programme of business support and training designed to maximise these opportunities.

How Can I Get Involved?

After the successes of our Peckham Rise schemes in 2019, 2021 and 2022, we’re currently offering a set of year-long, 50% subsidies on our standard desk rates.

This allows complete and fully inclusive access to our workspace, including free weekly events, member perks and access to a huge community of fellow entrepreneurs, as well as high quality facilities in a professional, welcoming and carefully designed setting.

It’s a rolling application process, and we’ll review everyone who has expressed an interest every time a space comes free.

Who’s It For?

Anyone can apply, and interest will be judged on four key criteria;

1.     Connection to Peckham or surrounding areas
2.     Barriers faced due to socio-economic background or ethnicity
3.    Personal potential, vision, innovation and drive
4.    Ability to make full use of the space and contribute to the community at Market

Peckham Rise 2022

We partnered with I Like Networking to provide 22 local entrepreneurs with a whole year of free desk space, and a carefully structured programme of mentorship, training and networking to help each individual grow themselves and their business.

Peckham Rise 2022 was delivered with the kind support of Stride and Southwark Council.

Peckham Rise 2021

During Covid, we delivered a series of free business training and mentoring sessions aimed at new start-ups, in partnership with Trampoline CIC.

12 individuals with businesses from beauty to marketing and IT to illustration enjoyed the support and mentorship of Trampoline’s CEO Claudine Bongo, all made possible by the support of Southwark Council‘s Neighbourhood Fund.

Peckham Rise 2019

As we launched our workspace at 133a Rye Lane, we ran a competition to offer 4 people a year of free desk space, shortlisted and judged by a panel including GUAP‘s Ibrahim Kamara, Monique Tomlinson from Peckham Palms, and James Browning, founder of Balamii.

Our winners included Rhian and Maame – the team behind MamaSia Skincare, and Daniel Peters who remains a part of our workspace community and has gone on to found Fashion Minority Report.
